Resource Pools Caveats Print
Tuesday, 02 March 2010 13:59

After reading Duncan's Blog posts about Resource Pools misconfigurations, I couldn't resist writing a new article about it to emphasize the problem a bit further. I've done this in Prezi to make it more interactive. Be sure to watch it fullscreen - it shows the pictures a bit better.

Shares aren't about guaranteeing resources, that is the job of a reservation. Take a look at my post also inspired by Duncan's post.

No, I didn't write anything about guaranteeing resources, that's done with reservations indeed. But, a lot of people think that they can somehow have a good relation between multiple resource pools while it is totally dependent on the amount of VMs inside the resource pool, with their reservations and limits. So they misconfigure their environment.

Great post by the way you've written... You could have used CPUBusier and CPUBusiest for those screenshot though ;-).
